CoAR Intervention for COVID-19 Response through WASH Program and Broadcasting Messages from Gorbat Radio in Kabul

Zarang- Nimroz Hand Washing Project
CoAR installed total 6 hand washing reservoir with 1000 liter water storage capacity and 18 stand taps in three locations. We provided 560 pieces of soap, with average daily of 1150 returnees from Iran benefiting from the project.
 
Turkham Zero Point Hand Washing Project
CoAR installed total 6 hand washing reservoir with 1000 litter water storage capacity and 18 stand taps at the Turkham border. We provided 450 pieces of soaps, benefitting an average of 350 returnees from  Pakistan.
 
In addition, CoAR recruited two persons for 2.5 months for the maintenance the hand washing facilities and checking the water quantity in reservoir.
 
COVID-19 Response (Hygiene Promotion) in Kabul
Recently, CoAR started a new hygiene promotion project for COVID 19 response at informal settlements of Kabul city. 3000 families have been identified as to benefit from this project.
 
Key activities:
1. Hygiene promotion
· Demonstration of handwashing techniques/critical times
· Water storage and water treatment option
· Distribution of awareness materials/leaflets/posters
· Public place cleaning and liquid waste disposals
 
2. Management and distribution of 3000 hygiene consumable kits.
 
3. Management and distribution of 3000 handwashing stations to all targeted families.
 
Broadcasting Messages through Gorbat Radio and Distribution of Information Brochures
Daily in each 2 hours MOPH and WHO approved messages broadcasting through Gorbat radio and daily about 1000 of family’s members including women and children  are benefited from this program, in the meantime 10000 brochures which have approved messages from MOPH and WHO with photographs were distributed in our targeted provinces like Parwan, Takhar, Nangarhar, Paktiak Paktia, Daikundi, Kandahar and Helmand provinces which has effective role in prevention of COVID -19.
