CDP – RBHAP Training in Pagadian City, Philippines

The Center for Disaster Preparedness’ (CDP) project Participation in Resilience Building and Organizing Safe and Progressive communities for Empowerment, Climate and Disaster Risk Reduction (PROSPER II) conducted a Training of Trainers on Rights-Based Humanitarian Action and Protection to better equip first responders in responding quickly to emergency situation anchored to the rights of the vulnerable sectors present in the community and provide an organized management on their Evacuation Center. This is to provide the foundation needed by humanitarian workers and volunteers to uphold human rights during emergency response.

Through the support and funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the said activity was conducted at Springland Resort, Pagadian City participated by 55 participants from different Local Government Units (LGUs) together with their BDRRM Chairmen and School DRR Focal person in Zamboanga Peninsula. The training serves as an eye-opener to the participating LGUs to improve their existing emergency response mechanism by utilizing the SPHERE handbook as their guide. This is a realization to build their capacities and be proactive members of the society by engaging themselves in DRRM discussions.
