Announcement of Nominated Candidates for the ADRRN Executive Committee Election 2024

ADRRN is holding its Annual General Assembly (AGM) on Monday, December 9, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand. This being the election year for the Executive Committee members, we will open online voting from November 25-27, 2024. The new Executive Committee Members shall be announced during the AGM.

The purpose of this online election procedure is to clarify the voting criteria and process to our members.

  1. Voting is only open to Full Members of ADRRN.
  2. Each organisation can vote only once for their preferred candidates.
  3. Each voting representative must select exactly seven (7) candidates out of the 9 nominees listed in the voting form.
  4. The voting will be open from November 25-27, 2024, and will be collected through the online and offline forms. Anonymity will be fully maintained
  5. Please note the voting link will be directly sent to the voting representative’s email during the election process. Voters will be contacted further about the voting form (Note: AGM Representatives of Full Member organisations are the voting representatives too. If there are no representatives joining the AGM from any of the Full Member Organizations, the Head of Organization or their focal point will get the link).
  6. Please note voters can only submit a vote once.
  7. The voting should be done within the election session during November 25-27, 2024. The voting received after 23:55 on November 27, 2024 (Bangkok GMT+8) will not be counted.
  8. The Election Committee will count the vote on November 28-29, 2024 and the result will be presented during the “Announcement of New Executive Committee Members” session at the AGM.

We are pleased to announce the following list of nominees for ADRRN’s Executive Committee Member’s Election 2024.

Name: Ahmad Abid Humayun

Country: Afghanistan

Organisation: Sanayee Development Organization (SDO)

Designation: Executive Director

Ahmad Abid Humayun is a peacebuilding and development practitioner with 12 years of experience in Afghanistan. He serves as the executive director of Sanayee Development Organization and chairperson of the Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief and Development. Additionally, he is a global peace ambassador for Global Peace Chain.

Reason for nomination: Working in a fragile and extremely complicated context for over a decade, Abid brings a unique and extensive experience. He is willing to contribute to ADRRN’s strategic objectives by having the opportunity to share his expertise, network and skills from twelve years of work with national and international NGOs, networks, and donor agencies.

Name: Anastasia Maylinda Titilestari

Country: Indonesia

Organisation: YAKKUM Emergency Unit

Designation: Senior Manager – Information and Communications

Anastasia Maylinda Titilestari has been a senior manager at YEU since 2006. She has managed over five emergencies across Indonesia. As Response Manager for the 2018 Central Sulawesi earthquake, she ensured humanitarian standards were upheld. Currently YEU’s Accountability Focal Point, she led its 2023 Core Humanitarian Standards self-assessment, emphasizing community resilience and principled action. Currently, Linda serves as an executive member of ADRRN’s executive committee.

Reason for Nomination: As a representative of YEU, an Indonesia-based committed CSO working for inclusive humanitarian, risk-informed disaster risk management as well as localization, Linda’s motivation is to contribute to the advancement of the network’s works, strengthening collaboration among CSOs in Asia both those planned and potential collaboration in the future. Besides that, she is committed to amplifying voices from the ground, not only by documenting local practices but also by providing and utilising space for cross-learning with CSOs in other contexts or countries.

Name: Hanan Hussain

Country: Sri Lanka

Organisation: Muslim Foundation for Culture and Development (MFCD)

Designation: President

Hanan Hussain is the President of Sri Lanka’s MFCD. He specialises in planning, finance, and climate adaptation. He holds a Master of Business Studies and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Colombo, with additional qualifications in fund management, journalism, and poverty index design from UNDP and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. Currently, Hanan serves as an executive member of ADRRN’s executive committee.

Reason for Nomination: Hanan is keen on contributing to the overall structural development of ADRRN.

Name: Khadga Sen Oli

Country: Nepal

Organisation: National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal (NSET)

Designation: Director of Communications and Knowledge Management

Khadga Sen Oli, Director of Communications and Knowledge Management at NSET, leads strategies on advocacy, outreach, and training. A certified disaster response instructor, he has contributed to UNICEF-EU policies, USAID programs, and massive public awareness campaigns. Previously, he worked in engineering and academia, fostering disaster risk reduction efforts in Nepal.

Reason for Nomination: Mr. Oli can add strategic value to the ADRRN team in terms of additional qualities he bears. He has the potential and willingness to contribute to expanding ADRRN coverage in the region through need-based capacity-building initiatives. He can be an asset to drive ADRRN efforts on risk communication, knowledge management, cross learning and value-based interventions. Coming from a remote mountainous area of Nepal, Oli has closely observed and endured disaster-induced social pain and disruptions in the distal rural society, knows the resilience potentials of the local communities, and with his modern education, he helps inculcates hope, strength and sense of dignity, especially among the excluded, and many times insulted population.

Name: Mayfourth D. Luneta

Country: Philippines

Organisation: Centre for Disaster Preparedness (CDP)

Designation: Deputy Executive Director

Mayfourth D. Luneta is the Deputy Executive Director of the Centre for Disaster Preparedness. With nearly 25 years in the organisation, she champions community-led actions. Skilled in capacity building, she focuses on marginalised populations, remaining grounded and committed to advocating for the organisation’s core agenda and prioritising the most vulnerable in her efforts. Currently, Mayfourth serves as the treasurer for ADRRN’s executive committee.

Reason for Nomination: Mayfourth has been helping the network by being part of the executive committee. She is open to continuously serving the network.

Name: Dr. Raju Thapa

Country: Nepal

Organisation: Disaster Preparedness Network-Nepal (DPNet)

Designation: Chairperson

Dr. Raju Thapa is a lawyer with a PhD in inclusive disaster management, specialising in disaster management, conflict management, political science, sociology, and human rights. He has worked with national and international organisations, led DPNet in Nepal, and serves as Member Secretary for the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction.

Reason for Nomination: Dr. Thapa is motivated to join the ADRRN Executive Committee to bring his extensive leadership, inclusive approach, and innovative resource management skills to a regional platform. With experience at DPNet and other organizations, he envisions a more collaborative and resilient Asia-Pacific DRR network. His key manifesto points include: 1. Strengthen ADRRN’s collaborative framework by engaging diverse stakeholders, including community organizations, to ensure a more inclusive and grassroots-driven approach to disaster risk reduction. 2. Implement sustainable and cost-effective strategies, inspired by his experience running DPNet programs with limited resources, to maximize impact across ADRRN member organizations. 3. Focus on emerging areas such as Disability-Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction (DiDRR), Anticipatory Action, and Shock-Responsive Social Protection, positioning ADRRN as a leader in cutting-edge resilience practices. 4. Develop accessible knowledge-sharing platforms within ADRRN to empower members with essential insights, research, and best practices, creating a central repository for the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Thapa’s dedication and strategic vision will bring added value to ADRRN, advancing effective, inclusive, and sustainable disaster resilience efforts throughout the region.

Name: Sameera Noori

Country: Afghanistan

Organisation: Citizens Organization for Advocacy and Resilience (COAR)

Designation: Managing Director

Sameera Noori, an Environmental Engineering graduate and civil society advocate since 2013, leads COAR and volunteers with ALLOHA and CEN. She advances Afghanistan’s localization agenda through NEAR’s Afghanistan Lab, fostering local NGO empowerment. Sameera’s work spans emergency response, disaster risk reduction, and the Localization Movement Building in Asia. Currently, Sameera serves as an executive member of ADRRN’s executive committee.

Reason for Nomination: Sameera is highly motivated to rejoin the ADRRN Executive Committee to further champion localisation and community-led approaches.

Name: Sudhanshu S. Singh

Country: India

Organisation: Humanitarian Aid International (HAI)

Designation: CEO

Sudhanshu S. Singh, CEO of Humanitarian Aid International (HAI), is a seasoned humanitarian with 36+ years of global experience. He has led disaster responses, advanced localisation, and contributed to key global processes like CHS, Grand Bargain, and A4EP. A published author, he advocates decolonising aid systems worldwide.

Reason for Nomination: ADRRN is facilitating commendable work through its platform. HAI is also a disruptive organisation, chasing innovative ideas. HAI is committed to further strengthening South-South cooperation and promotion of thought leadership. This could better be achieved through the ADRRN platform. Given my extensive experience in localisation, I will be able to help the ADRRN members by sharing my understanding, facilitating their participation in different platforms and promoting thought leadership. HAI is hosting the drone hub for ADRRN. This could be another area where HAI can support other member organisations.

Name: Takeshi Komino

Country: Japan

Organisation: CWS Japan

Designation: Board Member and General Secretary

Takeshi Komino is the Board Member and General Secretary of CWS Japan, which he founded during the 2011 East Japan Earthquake response. He is also the current Vice President of ADRRN and a key figure in the GNDR Regional Advisory Group. Takeshi has led humanitarian efforts across Asia and co-leads the Japan CSO Coalition for DRR.

Reason for Nomination: Takeshi has led the strategy development of ADRRN and is leading the network as the Vice-Chair and has contributed as the Secretary-General in previous tenure. His nomination is a testimonial of his commitment to support the Network to achieve its strategic direction as the leading Network in the region.
