Community World Service Asia (CWSA) is providing life-saving assistance for prevention and response to vulnerable, COVID-19 affected communities across targeted areas in Pakistan and Afghanistan. We are concurrently building resilience of organizations, institutions, communities and families while responding to the crisis.
Thematic areas of focus this week (May 2020):
150 most vulnerable refugee Afghan families in Pakistan and 580 most vulnerable Covid-19 affected families in Afghanistan provided Cash Transfers via mobile easy paisa.

261 Awareness raising sessions on COVID-19 and Health Education sessions with over 7000 community members in 58 rural villages across Pakistan and Afghanistan

Priority groups: widow or women, headed households, children and orphans, persons with disabilities (PWD), elderly, ethnic and religious minorities.

200 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) gear for staff provided to two main government hospitals of Laghman and Nangarhar. 50 PPE gear provided to Peshawar University KPK.

250 School kits distributed to children living in 5 major urban slums of Islamabad. Each kit included COVID-19 awareness material and safety masks.

Promoting Quality & Accountability in COVID-19 Response – 4 webinars conducted, 361 participants from countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, the Pacific and South America.
