Saddle Dam D, part of a hydroelectric dam system under construction in southeast Laos’s Champasak Province, collapsed on 23 July 2018, leading to widespread destruction and homelessness among the local population in neighboring Attapeu Province. As of 13 August, 36 people were confirmed dead, at least 98 more were missing and 6,600 others were displaced. Read more here.
