DiMaNN nominated as a Coordinator for NGO Sector Group to highlight important role of NGOs in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM)

The NGOs Subjective Group meeting was held on 14th July, 2021 virtually organized by National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) which is chaired by Chief Executive Officer of NDRRMA. The meeting was coordinated by DPNet Nepal which is a secretariate of this platform. NGOs subjective group is one of the major groups of nine different sectoral groups. The sectoral groups are i) government ii) semi government iii) INGOs iv) National NGOs v) UN agencies and donors vi) media and technology vii) disaster affected communities, viii) private sector ix) academia and researcher.
 
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Beda Nidhi Khanal, Under Secretary of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA). Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson of DPNet-Nepal and DiMaNN highlighted the objectives of sectoral group meeting and role of NGOs in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM). DPNet Nepal, General Secretary, Dr, Raju Thapa highlighted the importance of NPDRR and its role along with activities. In the program civil society network members and NGOs representative altogether 41 participants attend the meeting.
 
In the meeting the Secretariate Committee of NGOs was formed under the leadership of National Disaster Management Network of Nepal (DiMaNN) where 11 members of different NGOs were nominated anonymously. This group will function voluntarily for coordination, networking, knowledge, information, resources sharing and collective effort for DRR in Nepal.
