It is already becoming clear that, as in other disasters and crises, those hit hardest by COVID-19 are vulnerable local communities, and the long-term impacts of the pandemic will be felt hardest by them. A discussion amongst local-level Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from countries in Asia and Africa posed the question “What part might CSOs, particularly those working closely with local communities, play in the long-term response to and recovery from COVID-19?”
