DiMaNN – Review and Reflection Meeting of Networks on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management

DiMaNN has called up a meeting to discuss on “Review and Reflection Meeting of Networks on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. This coordination meeting was attended by 22 participants consisting of FSCN staffs and DiMaNN Board members supported by VSO. It was conducted on March 30, 2019 in Indreni Foodland, Imadol. The meeting was facilitated with the sharing and discussion on various issues that include:
 
1. Strategy of DiMaNN
2. Further action plan of DiMaNN, and
3. Roles of human rights in disaster risk reduction and management.
 
The meeting was followed by a concept paper from Bishnu Timilisana and Raju Thapa.
 
DiMaNN is working for advocacy, lobbying, creating awareness, capacity building, networking, and strengthening of relationship in the disaster issues from the district to the national level. Recently, it has stretched its function towards building resilience for disaster too. Though it is working in disaster related issue since long, it is still in preliminary stage for resilience thus the reasons for works on planning and preparing for strong institutional structure for the effective implementation of DRR and management on development plan and resilience building were echoed by Mr Bishnu Timilisna, General secretary of DiMaNN.
 
From the meeting, it was decided that enhancement of DiMaNN’s members in 77 districts within one months shall be done. This meeting also decided to allocate one focal person to be out on stand-by in each districts so that they can report immediately if any disaster occurs in that specific area in future.  Similarly, as suggested by our chairperson, Surya Bahadur Thapa,  DiMaNN shall focus on their interest to invest in disaster preparedness.  He further mention that if we can invest one Rupee today to reduce disaster risk we can save ten Rupees in disaster time.
