 Enhancing
the Capacity and Role of NGO Networks in Disaster : A Workshop
by the Asian Disaster Reduction & Response Network (ADRRN) was held between 2 to 4 August at the GRT Grand, Chennai, India.
SEEDS India played host to more than 40 participants from various
NGOs around Asia region. |
>> 'Inamura No Hi'
Tsunami Awareness Publication |
| Latest, ADRRN members made collaborative
efforts to create educational materials on tsunami using Japanese
old tsunami educational story "Inamura No Hi" among
the countries surrrounding the Indian Ocean and neighboring
countries. The story is translated and adapted to 8 languages
for Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore,
Sri Lanka and Philippines. |
| >> A Workshop on "Rebuilding A Safer Aceh", Banda Aceh,
17-19 April 2005 |
| For three days, from 17th April to 19th April
2005, the workshop gathered a group of experts and academia
that specialize in earthquake resistant construction of buildings
as well as community based disaster management. This workshop
is organized as a result of the recent tsunami that hit a major
part of Aceh, resulting in numerous deaths and losses. More |

| This meeting was organised by
the ADRRN, attended by several key stakeholders in disaster
response and development in Aceh and also academicians and expertise
from Japan and Malaysia. The objective is to expand ADRRN's
knowledge base, deploy expertise and provide benchmarks and
advice on disaster risk reduction activities, primarily to the
