
CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATING
IN THE BSO MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP
Organisational commitment to:
- uphold or develop a Code of Conduct, or alternatively, adopt
the six standards of the Secretary General’s Bulletin
of October 2003
- implement the Draft IASC Model Complaints and Investigation
Procedures
- partially fund the participation of a staff member(s)
- commit to training all staff working with persons of concern
on prevention and response
- make participating staff responsible for managing investigations
into allegations of staff misconduct within your organisation
- create an enabling and safe environment for persons of concern
to complain and staff to manage and conduct investigations
- facilitate the independence of the investigation staff throughout
an investigation process
- contribute to the Project’s evaluation process
- promote diversity - international NGOs must propose equal
numbers of national and international staff and all NGOs must
propose equal numbers of men and women to participate in the
Managing an Investigation Learning Programme.
Participant commitment to:
- maintain confidentiality
- remain with sponsoring NGO for another three years
- complete and submit the pre-workshop assignment at least
one week prior to the
start of the workshop
Participant criteria:
Skills
- excellent written and oral English
- good communication and sensitivity skills
- ability to be objective and think strategically
- commitment to the protection of persons of concern from
exploitation and abuse, especially women and children
- experience in managing and mentoring staff
Experience
- middle or senior level manager
- managing staff working with populations of concern, particularly
women, children or vulnerable adults
- knowledge and experience in working on protection and prevention
strategies
- managing difficult situations |
