Transcending Borders: BDPC team’s visit to Barmer
Date: April 2007
The ADRRN has always provided a platform for collaboration among South Asian nations. The recent visit of members of the Bangladesh Disaster Preparedness Center (BDPC) to the desert state of Rajasthan in India was yet another manifestation of close regional cooperation.
To understand the system of local governance, a four-member team from the BDPC visited Barmer, where SEEDS is constructing 300 shelters for families affected by flash flood last year. The team attended community meetings in some of the districts, and interacted with the men and women of the villages, as well as some of the officials involved in the development work.
The visit was memorable for members of both BDPC and SEEDS. It also facilitated the strengthening of the existent bond between the two organizations.
